Reflecting on the significance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Every September 30, Dawson Group takes the time remember the Indigenous children that never returned home across our country by pausing our operations company-wide on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
We want to stand with our friends, colleagues and coworkers from Indigenous communities across B.C. and honour the survivors, their families and their communities on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We must never overlook or forget about the unspeakable tragedies that occurred at residential schools in our communities, our provinces and in our country.
We encourage all our employees friends and families to learn more about the history of residential schools and their devastating impact in Canada. To learn more, visit Reconciliation Canada’s detailed website.
We encourage everyone to find an event in support of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in your area that supports our Indigenous communities. Employees from our Dawson Road Maintenance yard in Williams Lake are supporting the Orange Shirt Society and volunteering at different events this week.
Lastly, when honouring this day, Dawson Group encourages our employees to show their support by participating in Orange Shirt Day and wearing an orange shirt on September 30. For those employees who will not be in the office or on the jobsite on Monday, Sept. 30, we are encouraging everyone to wear orange to their place of work this Friday.
